FALL OF MAN

God happy after He had

completed His work
•Genesis 1:31
•31 And God saw every thing
that he had made, and,
behold, it was very good. And
the evening and the morning
were the sixth day.
WHAT IS SIN ?
•I JOHN 3:4
•4 Whosoever committeth
sin transgresseth also the
law: for sin is the
transgression of the law.
Sin began with the
devil.
•1 John 3:8.
•8 He that committeth sin is of the
devil; for the devil sinneth from the
beginning. For this purpose the Son of
God was manifested, that he might
destroy the works of the devil.
JESUS AFFIRMS THAT SATAN IS
THE INVENTOR OF SIN
•JOHN 8:44
• 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the
lusts of your father ye will do. He was a
murderer from the beginning, and abode
not in the truth, because there is no truth
in him. When he speaketh a lie, he
speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and
the father of it.
SATAN LED A REBELLION IN
HEAVEN
• REVELATION 12:7-9
• 7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels
fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and
his angels,
• 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any
more in heaven.
• 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent,
called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole
world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels
were cast out with him
• Ezekiel 28:17. Pride in his beauty and wisdom defiled
him.
• 17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast
corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee
to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold
thee.
• Isaiah 14:13, 14. He defied God and determined to
overthrow His throne.
• 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I
will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon
the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
• 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the
most High.
1/3 OF ANGELS WHO
FOLLOWED SATAN ALSO
SINNED
•JUDE 1:6
•6 And the angels which kept not
their first estate, but left their own
habitation, he hath reserved in
everlasting chains under darkness
unto the judgment of the great day.
FALL OF MAN
THE ORIGIN OF SIN ON
PLANET EARTH
•GENESIS 3
• 1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the
field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the
woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of
the garden?
• 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the
fruit of the trees of the garden:
• 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the
garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye
touch it, lest ye die.
More subtil than any other
beast
• Subtil – unfavorable tendency
• Job 5:12
• 12 He disappointeth the devices of the crafty,
so that their hands cannot perform their
enterprise.
• Job 15:5
• 5 For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and
thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
BETTER WAYS OF BEING PRUDENT
THAN BEING CUNNING
• PROVERBS 12:16, 23 ; 13:16; 14:8,15,18, 22:3; 27:12
• 16 A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man
covereth shame.
• 23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart
of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
• 16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool
layeth open his folly.
• 8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way:
but the folly of fools is deceit.
THIS NOT A NORMAL
SERPENT
•NORMAL SERPENTS :
1. Serpents from the word serpo which
means to creep
2. Have no organs for speech or any
articulate sound
3. Serpents only hiss
Satan transforms himself
into an angel of light;
•2 CORINTHIANS 11 :14
•14 And no marvel; for
Satan himself is
transformed into an angel
of light.
• 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye
shall not surely die:
• 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat
thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and
ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
• 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was
good for food, and that it was pleasant to the
eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one
wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did
eat, and gave also unto her husband with her;
and he did eat.
Testing of our first mother
•1 Timothy 2:14
• 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the
woman being deceived was in the
transgression.
•2 Corinthians 11:3
• 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent
beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your
minds should be corrupted from the simplicity
that is in Christ.
Satan telling Eve that they
shall be like God
•This was what satan aspired to be
•Isaiah 14:14
•14 I will ascend above the heights
of the clouds; I will be like the
most High.
GOD’S WORD IS SURE
•GENESIS 2:17
•17 But of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil, thou
shalt not eat of it: for in the day
that thou eatest thereof thou
shalt surely die.
Eve is transgressing
divine command
• She coveted
• Exodus 20:17
• 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet
thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor
his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
• She stole God’s property- she broke the 8th commandment –Exodus
20:15
• 15 Thou shalt not steal.
• She transgressed the 6th commandment ; do not kill- gave Adam
knowing well he will die – Exodus 20:13
• 13 Thou shalt not kill.
•She then broke the 1st commandment
–She placed Satan before God in her
esteem and obeyed him rather than
her creator.
•Exodus 20:3
•3 Thou shalt have no other gods
before me.
LUST BRINGS SIN
•JAMES 1:15
•15 Then when lust hath
conceived, it bringeth forth
sin: and sin, when it is
finished, bringeth forth
death.
• The devil, speaking through the serpent,
deceived our first parents, Adam and Eve,
into disobeying God.
• This brought the troubles, woe and suffering
we see in the world today.
• Romans 5:12
• Therefore, just as through one man sin
entered the world, and death through sin, and
thus death spread to all men, because all
sinned.
• God did not wish them to be tempted above
their ability to withstand
• 1 Corinthians 10:13
• 13 There hath no temptation taken you but
such as is common to man: but God is
faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that
ye may be able to bear it.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and
they knew that they were naked; and they sewed
fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

•Confusion and shame

were engendered
•Innocence was lost
•Guilt was contracted
VERSES 8-13
• 8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in
the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the
presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
• 9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art
thou?
• 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid,
because I was naked; and I hid myself.
• 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten
of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
• 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me,
she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
• 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast
done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
WAGES OF SIN
•ROMANS 6:23
•23 For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
CONSEQUENCES
OF SIN
WE ALL HAVE TO SUFFER
THE CONSEQUENCES OF
SIN
•ROMANS 3:23
•23 For all have sinned, and come
short of the glory of God;
1. SUFFERING
•ROMANS 8:22
•22 For we know that the
whole creation groaneth and
travaileth in pain together
until now.
WHY DOES GOD PERMIT SUFFERING?
•Job 2:7
•So Satan went out from the
presence of the LORD, and struck
Job with painful boils from the
sole of his foot to the crown of his
head.
• The story of Job shows that God is not primarily responsible for
suffering. Sometimes God allows suffering for the development of
character as was true in the case of Job.
• Job said, “When He has tested me I shall come forth as gold” (Job
23:10).
• Much suffering is caused by man’s own folly, such as the
consequences of war.
• Suffering is often caused by disobedience to natural laws.
• Sickness comes because of a failure to exercise or eat correct
food.
• The basic cause of suffering is sin, because suffering was
unknown before sin existed.
• The devil is the originator of sin, so he is primarily the one to
blame – but not God.
2. DEATH
•Romans 5:12
• Therefore, just as through
one man sin entered the
world, and death through sin,
and thus death spread to all
men, because all sinned.
THE DESTRUCTION OF SIN
AND THE DEVIL
• EZEKIEL 28:18-19
• 18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the
multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy
traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the
midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring
thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all
them that behold thee.
• 19 All they that know thee among the people shall
be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and
never shalt thou be any more.
GOD HAS DONE SOMETHING
•EZEKIEL 18:32
• 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him
that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn
yourselves, and live ye.
•JOHN 3:16
• For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in
Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
•NAHUM 1:9
•9 What do ye imagine
against the LORD? he will
make an utter end:
affliction shall not rise up
the second time.
•1 John 4:4
•You are of God, little children,
and have overcome them,
because He who is in you is
greater than he who is in the
world.
