Telecomunications

 Internet through optical Fiber

How does Internet travel around the
world?
 How data travels from country
A to country B?

No, they don't travel wirelessly.

They travel through optical fiber

cables that are laid on the floors of
oceans and are called
Submarine communications cable.
Data travels through these at high
speeds (like tens of terabits of data
per second or even less) to reach
their destination.

Here's how the map of the

connected world.
How does optical fiber work?

Fiber optics are long, thin

strands of very pure glass
about the diameter of a human
hair. They are arranged in
bundles called optical
cables and used to transmit
light signals over long
distances.
Fiber Optics Tranmission

Optical fiber uses light pulses instead of

electrical pulses to transmit information,
Delivering hundreds of times higher
bandwidth than traditional electrical
systems. Fiber optic cable can be
protected by sheathing and armor to
make it resistant to harsh environment
conditions. It is much used in commercial
business, governments, military and
many other industries for voice, video
and data transmission.
Advantages of Fiber Optics vs
Conventional Cables
 Less Expensive
 Thinner
 Higher Carrying Capacity
 Less signal Degradation
 Light Signals
 Low power
 Digital Signals
 Non-flammable
 Flexible
