Enthalpy /ˈɛnθəlpi/ ( listen) is a property of a thermodynamic system. The enthalpy of a
system is equal to the system's internal energy plus the product of its pressure and volume.

An isothermal process is a change of a system, in which the temperature remains constant: ΔT =

0.

In thermodynamics, an adiabatic process is one that occurs without transfer of heat or matter

between a thermodynamic system and its surroundings. In an adiabatic process, energy is
transferred to its surroundings only as work.

The ideal gas law, Pv = RT, describes the behavior of many gases. When solved for v(the
specific volume, m^3/kg, the equation can be written. Find the specific volume for air, for
temperatures from 100 to 1000K and for pressures from 100 kPa to 1000 kPa. The value for R
for air is 0.2870 kJ/(kg K).
Reciprocating compressor is used to compress the refrigerant in domestic refrigerator. This compressor is
hermetically sealed type. Hermetic sealed compressor is one in which the two halves are sealed by welding or brazing.
Electric motor and reciprocating mechanism are placed inside this housing.

Reciprocating compressors are very efficient and you can get AC units that have 2, 4, or even 8 cylinders in its
compressor. Scroll compressors are becoming more popular for use in HVAC systems as they are more reliable and
efficient than reciprocating types

Isobaric Work done

Since the pressure is constant, the force exerted is constant and the work done is given as PΔV. An isobaric expansion of a gas requires heat
transfer to keep the pressure constant. An isochoric process is one in which the volume is held constant, meaning that the work done by the
system will be zero.
