COLOMBIA

OPERATION
“Green house operation” presented by : Sebastian
Cardenas
WHAT IS COLOMBIA
OPERATION?
 It was an operation aimed to penetrate a canyon that besieged several
areas called by this armed group as "La Guacha", "El Rincon de los
Viejitos", the "School of Pictures" and "Green House"; the latter, due to the
distinctive facilities with a green zinc roof, where they made visits by
politicians and members of civil society, during the La Uribe dialogues in
1984.
HOW WAS THE ARMY
PREPARED?
 The Colombian Air Force participated with crews of Kfir, A-37 and AC-47
fighter aircraft and UH-60, UH1-H, Bell 212 and Hughes 500 helicopters;
which were responsible for covering several parts of the operation,
including the landing of more than 500 men, organic from the Special
Forces Battalion No.1 "Ambrosio Almeida" and No.2 "Francisco Almeida".
LEGACY AND
CONSEQUENCE
 Despite the fact that Casa Verde was literally erased from the map by the
bombings and that the Secretariat lost its symbol base, the main objective
of the operation was not achieved as the FARC dome managed to fold back
unharmed; Shortly after this organization unleashed in response to the
attack, a violent series of attacks and ambushes across the country. From
that moment on, the conflict with the communist guerrillas entered an
even more total and fierce phase in which the communication channels
with the subversive leadership were broken.
