The effects of the disaster was the loss
of environment and the loss of people
and tourists. This happened because of
the massive size of the flood and the
huge pieces of debris in the flood.
Facts:
● Flash floods commonly happen during Arizona's monsoon season
● Last major flash flood in Arizona was on October 2,1983 but they continue
to happen frequently
● 20 people died and 500 were injured in the Arizona Flash Flood of 1983
● Most common cause of death in a flash flood will be drowning or trauma.
Some deaths will result from hypothermia and exposure, when people
become trapped in cold/wet places.
● Fast-moving water is extremely dangerous — water moving at 10 miles an
hour can exert the same pressures as wind gusts of 270 mph
● Get up on high grounds and stay away from any waterways
