Project Overview

• Our mission is to meet the trend of the most people to consume a natural product and to respond
to the demand of berries.
• Our vision can be summed up as to contribute to the development of the area and bring value to it.
Motivation and Justification
• Through our research analysis, we have discovered that the bar for entry into berry production is low and
with a supply shortage.
• There is only one producer in the area that sells fresh fruits. People need to have a healthier choice of
food when they go shopping or think what they want to eat – we come to meet this need and bring them
on the table a better choice.
• We target any person – no matter the age, gender or nationality that wishes to replace the sugar-based
foods with tasty sweet fruits.
• As consumers demands for high quality foods increase due to the large infusion of products from exports
that are of a lower quality than our traditional products, there is an acute need of them. The market is
dynamic and the food sector is a prosperous investment.
Why Berries?
• Berries have become the new “gold” for Romanian farmers. If during summer, they sell for 10-20 lei
per kg, during winter season they can reach 100-200 lei/kg and in this context more and more people
have started growing an interest into this side of the agriculture. Nowadays we have many
opportunities to get financial aid from the European Union and many others (such as Romania Start-
up Nation, Rural Investment Financing Agency and others) so we don’t have to deal with the costs all
by ourselves. As a matter of fact, entrepreneurs are encouraged by the government to embrace
commercial farming because part of the success of any nation is its ability to optimize its natural
resources to help generate positive net exports, hence contributing to a positive balance of trade.
• Berries are delicious, moreover they provide a great source of antioxidants. They have been found
to help reduce the risk for cancer, heart disease, age-related vision loss, and dementia.
• During the start of this project we have decided to grow just three types of berries: strawberry,
blueberry and raspberry.
Products
Strawberry
• These fruits are the darlings of the berry world and for good reason. Strawberries are a good
source of vitamin C, manganese, folate (vitamin B9), and potassium. They contain small amounts
of several other vitamins and minerals.
• Substantial harvests of large, juicy fruits make them popular to grow.
• They can be sold even from the first year after being planted.
Products
Raspberries
• They are one of the most popular berries to grow, and some varieties produce two crops: one in
spring and another in fall.
• Raspberries are self-pollinating.

• Berry bushes will grow with minimum care and they also bring instant gratification. (one to three
years to begin producing a worthy yield)
Products
Blueberries – nutritious, they are one of the healthiest

• This will be our main product after the first 2-3 years.
Use of berries:
• Easy snacks
• Can be added to yogurt, oatmeal, or cereal
• Kept frozen don’t lose nutritional value and can be easily blended into a smoothie
• Can be used to make fruit-infused water
• Or to make homemade jams and jellies.

will work to the needs of our community, our company will focus on creating new jobs and offer
best value products.
• National level: The implementation of such a project (small farm) will serve as a proof of concept
and will motivate entrepreneurs across the country to take notice. The government grants will
facilitate entry into this sector.

General objectives
• expansion of our products to a larger public
• to create partnerships with foreign investors
• increasing of the profit percentage yearly.

occupy the following positions:
• Chief Operating Officer also Marketing Executive ;
• General Farm Manager also Administrator/Accountant ;
• Crop (Fruits) Cultivation Manager/Supervisor Fruits

• And during harvesting season some part time workers.

Promotion
It will be:
• through a professional site made in Romanian, German and English, the intention being to find a
distributor in European countries
• through a social media page that people can reach anytime to order within the area
• creating a partnership with farmers in the region
• distribute flyers in the public spaces
• contacting the local juice factories, jams, medicine factories etc.
Financial Aspects
Financial Aspects
• First year we need the estimative sum of 58.500 euros.
• In the first year we will focus to establish the plantation (with 3000 blueberry plants, 500
raspberry threads, 1000 strawberry threads) that will occupy the area of 1 ha.
• Year I and II: estimated income: 2000 - 3000 euros from secondary crops (strawberries,
raspberries) only;
• Year III: our blueberries bear fruit
• Revenues in the third year: 20,000 euros (more than our expenses).

• After the total recovery of the initial investment, we obtain a profit of 15- 20,000 euros / ha.
Future prospects
• One of our major goals of starting Wellbeing Berries Co. is to build a business that will flourish
and be self-sustaining without injecting finance from external sources.
• We know that one of the ways of gaining approval and winning customers over is to sell our farm
products a little bit cheaper than what is obtainable in the market and we are prepared to survive
on lower profit margin for a while.
• Wellbeing Berries Co. will make sure that the right foundation, structures and processes are put in
place to ensure that our staff welfare are well taken of. As a matter of fact, profit-sharing
arrangement will be made available to all our management staff.
