exponentially
• It plays a crucial role to almost everyone as it affects the
society directly or indirectly whether one wills or not
• It keeps on progressing due to not only the changing times
environment but also to the ever progressing mind of
mankind
IMPACTS OF TECHNOLOGY
•Global Connectivity
•The Megashifts
•Digitization
•Mobilization
•Screenification
•Disintermediation
•Datafication
•Intelligization
•Automation
•Virtualization
•Augmentation
•Anticipation
•Robotization
•De-humanization
•Re-humanization
GLOBAL CONNECTIVITY
• Allows people throughout the world to contact each other or connect via internet
with the use of various applications such as Facebook, Skype, etc
• Impacts:
• Minute to minute online news increases awareness of what is happening around
the world
• Help to reduce the use of paper as documents are now digitally stored
• Encourage self-learning activities such as cooking, planting, art crafts, etc.
• Smartphones are useful in emergencies when such connections ca save lives
• Digital warning devices help prevent disasters
• Business conferences and meetings are faster and easier than before
THE MEGA SHIFTS
• Paradigm shifts-philosophical in essence and which represents a
new way of doing things, technological mega shifts represents new
ways of being
• Is an exponential shift in human experience which is sudden in
arrival and unpredictable in outcome, from Gerd Leonhard’s (2016)
book Technology vs Humanity
• Mega shifts interact with each other to alter human perception of
time and space, creating a conscious divide between past and future
• Represent new ways of being such as mobile, wearable and
ingestable technologies
FORMS OF MEGA SHIFTS
• Digitization- everything that can will become digital
• Mobilization- everything is becoming mobile and soon
wearable or ‘hearable". Computing is becoming invisible,
omnipresent and indispensable.
• Screenification- everything that used to be physical (or
printed) is now available on screens. What used to be
between people (such as conversation in foreign language)
can soon be done via screen using free translation apps .

dilemmas faced by robotics
