Battleship
Introduction

In this entertaining category game, you will play a game of battleship to find words.

Procedure

Students will be divided into two groups and will receive a copy of the worksheet.

Working together, you come up with seven words belonging to the following category.

VERBS
a) Three verbs (ships) should be four letters long.

b) Two verbs (ships) should be five letters long.

c) Two verbs (ships) should be six letters in length.

The verbs can be entered HORIZONTALLY, VERTICALLY or DIAGONALLY on the grid.

Now you are going to play a game of battleships to find out what verbs your partners have written on the
battleship grid.

Then each group takes it in turns to call out coordinates to the other group, e.g. C4
If there is a letter in that square, the other group says “hit” and reveals the letter. If the square is blank,
the group says “miss”.

The first group to find all seven verbs and give an example using each verb wins the game.
