1. Antilla, Mumbai – the first billion dollar
house
Owned by India’s Mukesh Ambani.
Has 27 floors!
It is 173 meters tall!
Cost is $ 1 bn = Rs. 4,500 crores (approx.)
First six floors dedicated to family parking- enough to
park 168 cars!!!
Each level has a lush garden.
The building has 9 elevators.
For entertainment, the house has a movie theater
which can house 50 people.
Has an interior space of 400,000 square feet.
2. Villa Leopolda, Cote D’ Azur France
US$ 525 mn
Built in 1902 by King Leopold II of Belgium as a
present for his mistress.
It is an 80,000 square foot Chateuau.
The estate is so big, it requires 50 full time gardeners.
The grounds cover 20 acres of garden and visitors can
stroll amongst 1,200 olive, orange, lemon and cypress
trees.
It is rumored to be purchased for a much higher rate,
but there aren’t any evidence.
It also has 11 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
The property is valued at US $ 506 mn currently
which is equal to Rs. 2277 crores!
3. One Hyde Park- The Penthouse, London
US$ 200 mn
It is a luxurious modern residential development in
the heart of Knightsbridge, Central London.
It has got 86 apartments.
The Penthouse is the most expensive and biggest of
all the luxury flats.
It has been provided with SAS guard, bullet proof
windows, iris scanners, panic rooms and a secret
tunnel to the nearby Mandarin Hotel.
The cost is estimated to be £ 6000/sq ft. i.e. Rs.
417,300/sq ft.
This apartment also has 6 bedrooms!
New owners will also enjoy 24- hour room service
from the Mandarin Oriental hotel along with SAS-
trained security guards to protect their interests.
Price is estimated to be around US$ 200 mn.
4. Fairfield Pond-The Hamptons
US$ 170 mn
It is the home of Ira Rennert.
It has 63 acres area and become the largest residential
compound in the US.
The house has 29 bedrooms, 39 bathrooms, 5 tennis
courts, bowling alley, large dining room (91 feet long).
One can find $150,000 hot tub as well.
5.Hearst Mansion, Beverly Hills.
US$ 165 mn
The property was briefly listed at $165 million in 2007,
and the 2010 price was $95 million!
The massive drop in its price is because of drop in
median home prices in Southern California.
It is an H-shaped estate.
The buyer will have the chance to live right next door
to Tom Cruise and David Beckham.
This is a 50,000-plus-square-foot mansion.
John and Jacqueline Kennedy spent part of their
honeymoon there.
It has three pools, 29 bedrooms, a state-of-the-art
movie theater and even a disco.
The compound has six residences -- four houses, an
apartment and a cottage for the security staff.
There are three swimming pools and a movie theater.
This house was featured in the film The Godfather.
6. Franchuk Villa, Kensington
US$ 161 mn
Located at London.
Builders have for the last 18 months been installing an
underground swimming pool, gym, sauna and
cinema.
The house has at least 10 bedrooms and a secure
“panic room".
Also known as Victorian Villa.
After receiving a £10 million overhaul, it was
purchased by Ukrainian AIDS philanthropist, Elena
Franchuk, and renamed as the Franchuk Villa.
Before this, it was a girls' preparatory school.
The work is said to have upset neighbours, who
include the Mayor of Moscow and his wife.
7. The ‘Pinnacle’, Montana
US$ 155 mn
This is the home of Time and Edra Blixseth.
It will be the largest and grandest property on the
resort, but is still small in comparison to some of
those on this list, with only 10 bedrooms.
Has impressive features such as every inch of floor
being heated, a heated driveway and fireplaces in all
bathrooms.
8. ‘The Manor’, Los Angeles
US$ 150 mn
The home of Aaron Spelling, dubbed “The Manor” by
wife Cindy, has 123 rooms.
It has an indoor skating rink, multiple pools, three
kitchens, sports courts, private orchard, and a
bowling alley.
It also has a room used exclusively for wrapping
presents and an entire floor dedicated to closet space.
The house was designed by architects James
Langenheim & Associates and built in 1988 at a cost of
$12 million.
The parking lot accommodates 100 vehicles, and
there are also 16 carports.
9. Updown Court, Surrey, England
US$ 150 mn
Located 25 kms. outside London.
Built in 1924 and was severely ruptured in the Great
Storm of 1987.
Leslie Allen-Varco of Surrey purchased the burn-out
shell of the property at US$ 38.4 mn in 2001/02.
He invested additional US$ 60 mn for reconstruction.
Construction began in 2002 and completed in 2007.
58 acres of landscaped gardens and private
woodlands.
Constructed using some of the rarest materials on
earth- notably marble from Italy.
Patio for squash, bowling alley, movie theater, heated
marble parking  and helipad.
The cost of this today is estimated to be around US$
150 mn i.e. approx. Rs. 675 crores!
Out of the 103 rooms, 24 are bed rooms!
It also features an underground garage, with granite
flooring, that has enough room for eight luxury cars
or limousines.
Neighbors include Elton John, Sarah, Duchess of
York, Queen guitarist Brian May and even Elizabeth II
once resided locally.
As of November 2010, the estate has not been sold
and is still on the market at the original price.
10. Dracula’s Castle, Romania
US$ 135 mn
Also known as the Bran Castle.
The castle is now a museum open to tourists,
displaying art and furniture collected by Queen
Marie.
The Bran Castle was supposed to be constructed in
1212 and is said to have been involved in many
historical events.
The first documented mentioning of Bran Castle is
the act issued by Louis I of Hungary on November 19,
1377.
From 1920 the castle became a royal residence within
the Kingdom of Romania.
In 2006, the Romanian government awarded
ownership to Archduke Dominic.
In 2007, Archduke Dominic put the castle up for sale
for a price of £40 million ($78 million).
On January 26, 2009, it was revealed that the family
had decided not to sell the castle, but instead turn it
into a museum.
