to exercise
(Penyesuaian system jantung terhadap senaman)

Introduction
• One major challenge to homeostasis posed by exercise is the
increased muscular demand for oxygen

• During heavy exercise, oxygen demands may

 by 15 to 25 times

• Two major adjustments of blood flow are;

–  cardiac output
– Redistribution of blood flow
What is cardiac output?
WHAT IS BLOOD PRESSURE ?

Blood pressure is the pressure of circulating blood on

the walls of blood vessels

Normal blood pressure :

Blood flow during exercise
Changes in Oxygen Delivery to Muscle During Exercise

Oxygen Delivery During Exercise

(pengangkutan oksigen ketika senaman)

• Oxygen demand by muscles during exercise is

15–25x greater than at rest
Redistribution of Blood Flow
• Muscle blood flow to working skeletal
muscle
• Splanchnic blood flow  to less active
organs
– Liver, kidneys, GI tract
Circulatory Responses to Exercise
(Tindakbalas peredaran darah terhadap senaman)

• Depend on:
– Type, intensity, and duration of exercise
– Environmental condition
– Emotional influence
Clinical Applications 9.3
Sudden Cardiac Death During Exercise
(Kematian mengejut akibat kegagalan jantung)

 Sudden cardiac death

during exercise is
uncommon
– 1/200,000 youth
athletes

 Caused by abnormal,
lethal heart rhythms
Let’s continue with activity
