Modal Verbs
These are verbs that are
usually used to express
ideas such as possibility,
necessity, permission and
prohibition.

Modal verbs are also used for
prohibition. These situations
are the opposite of giving
permission.
Two Types of Modal
Verbs of Prohibition
Can’t- usually gives the idea of
something that is against the rules.
Mustn’t- usually means that it is
the speaker who is setting the
rule.

 Groupyourselves according to your favorite
subject.
 Prepare ¼ sheet of paper individually.
 Readthe situation given to your favorite subject.
Based on the situation, create one sentence using
the any of the two modal verbs of prohibition.
 Write your answers on your ¼ sheet of paper.
ENGLISH
In an English class, you are
instructed to always speak in
English. If you hear your
classmates speak in Chavacano,
what will you tell them?
MATHEMATICS
Your teacher instructed you NOT
to use your cellphone as calculator
during the test but you saw your
classmate using it. What will you

SCIENCE
In a Science Laboratory, it is
not allowed to eat. That is the
number 1 rule. How will you
tell your friends about the

FILIPINO
In your Filipino Subject, you are
tasked to recite a poem. Your
classmate cheated by having a
copy in his hand. What mustn’t be
done?
E.S.P.
During your E.S.P. class, you
saw one of your classmates
shouting at his seatmate. What
mustn’t be done?
MAPEH
Before your P.E. class, you have
observed that your seatmate is
not in a P.E. Attire. You teacher
reminded you about it. What
will you tell your seatmate?

In your History Class, your teacher
instructed you to bring the World
Map for the quiz, but you did not
bring it. What will your
teacher tell you?

One of the important rules in
your Cooking Class is to wear
gloves while cooking. You
forgot to bring your gloves.
