Virtual Reality is a form of hardware technology that has been in constant development since
its release within the realm of the video gaming community in 2012.

The technology involves a headset and often two handheld controllers. When the user wears
these, they’re transported into a simulated environment that they’re able to interact with using
their real-time movements.

Recently, VR has expanded to include compatibility with mobile devices, which connects the
use of VR and Augmented Reality (AR) simulations. This allows VR to go beyond video
gaming and makes it possible for users to transport themselves anywhere from the comfort of
their seat.

With VR technology, possibilities will be endless. The technology

allows for a new type of field trip, where students could travel
halfway across the world with ease.

Another benefit is with constant developments in progress, VR could

become more accessible and comfortable for students with special
needs and disabilities.

Average prices range anywhere from $20-$500 depending on brand

and purpose (such as: will it be used for smartphones or a high-end
gaming system?)

MONTOUR SCHOOL DISTRICT

In the Montour School District, located in

Pennsylvania, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being
implemented into their K-12 schools.

Using devices such as Google Home and Amazon

Alexa’s, students are taught from kindergarten level
how to interact with AI technology.

However, as they progress Montour Schools plan to

have students become familiar with Cozmo, an AI
robot created by the robotics company Anki, that is
meant to be personally programmed and developed
by the user.
INNOVATIVE USES (CONT.)

Cozmo pricing = $180

Google Home pricing = $29-$249

Amazon Alexa pricing = $39-$169

The Montour School District uses their AI technology

program in hopes to educate students on data literacy
and programming, while also preparing them for the
integration of AI technology into our future society.
