Introduction Difference between inanimate and animate objects is that later move, respond to their environment and show changes in their body functions. These properties of animate objects, in a general sense called behaviour. In animals and men the behaviour is controlled by the nervous system. Behaviour of organisms is studied: Psycology. The interaction between environmental stimuli and physiological functions of the body is studied in the field of psychophysiology.

Behavioural study Obvious way to study behaviour is to measure the electrical signals in the brain and the nervous system that control the behaviour. However, ,the catch is EEG reflects the result of many processes that occur simultaneously in the brain. Only events that involves larger area of the brain such as epileptic seizures and tumours can be identified by the brain. Mental disorders cannot be diagnosed from Electroencephalogram.

Psychophysiological Measurements Many body functions including blood pressure, perspiration and salivation are controlled by autonomous nervous system. ANS, normally cannot be controlled voluntarily but is influenced by external stimuli and emotional states of the individual.
