Introduction:
Child labor may be defined as all economic activity for
children under the age of 12 years. It may also be defined
as weekly economic activity lasting enough to undermine
the health and education of those aged 12-14. Child labor
constitutes an important obstacle to achieving Universal
Primary Education and other Millennium Development
Goals in Bangladesh.
Child Labor and child work
There have been many debates in developing countries on what
constitutes child labor and child work and on how to deal with them.
It has been argued that one way of distinguishing between child
labor and child work involves the nature of the work and its impact
on children.
Sectors of work
Child labor and millennium development
Goals:
Children involved in worst forms of child labor, as set out
in ILO Convention No. 182, are the sub-group of child
laborers whose rights are most compromised and whose
well-being is most threatened. For these children, the risks
and damage associated with child labor go far beyond
compromised education.

Worst forms of child labor:

Children involved in worst forms of child labor, as set out
in ILO Convention No. 182, are the sub-group of child
laborers whose rights are most compromised and whose
well-being is most threatened.
Child labor in Bangladesh:
Law against child labor:
Bangladesh is legally bound by several international
standards as it has ratified a number of legal documents,
including the ICCPR, ICESCR, CRC and Convention
no.182. Bangladesh shall protect children from economic
activity and social abuses as well as they shall establish
legal frameworks concerning age limits in paid occupations
and is obliged to punish responsible actors engaging
children in child labor in accordance with their national
legislation.
Child labor : Whole world scenario:
Conclusion:
The challenging problems of child labor are a common
concern for the global community. In Bangladesh there
are widespread problems of child labor that can be traced
throughout the whole country, in all sectors on the labor
market.
