MANUFACTURING

Manufacturing is
the transformation
of raw materials
into a finished
product destined for
sale in some
market.
EXAMPLE

Whitening is a resource to get paper

from high quality in the manufacturing
process of paper.
PLANT/FACTORY
Industrial plants are
factories where various
products are made.
They are those facilities
that have all the
necessary means to
develop a
manufacturing process.
PLANT / FACTORY
The objective is to
create new material
wealth through the
chemical or
biological
transformation of
materials.
EXAMPLE

In a refining factory, crude oil experiment physical

and chemical transformation processes to obtain
derivatives liquid gasolina, plastics, lubricants and
asphalts
RAW MATERIAL
• Raw materials are
basic materials that
can be converted by
manufacture,
processing, or
combination into a new
and useful product
EXAMPLE
“The petrochemical industry uses olefins and
aromatics obtained from natural gas and
petroleum refining products as basic raw
materials.”
COMPONENTS /PARTS

Component is a
part that combines
with other parts to
make a machine
or piece of
equipment.
EXAMPLE

“The steam generator is a component of the water

distiller that is used to store the water to be
distilled.”
FABRICATION
Generally, fabrication is the making of a
product by combining different parts.

The manufacture of products made

exclusively from metal, such as car bodies
or Steel frames.
Example

“The construction of the methane plant started

with the fabrication of a steel column for
separation.”
ASSEMBLY LINE
Assembling means putting together
various parts in the manuacturing
process.

Assembly is usually done in an

organized sequence of workstations
called an assembly line.
Example

“Most of the pressure pumps are assembled in

Germany from parts that are made in different
countries.”
