COVID 19 SUPPORT

 Called patients for their results


 For those that were positive, I kept a log and called them once a week to
check on them.
 After 14 days, I encouraged the patients to go back to the office to get
retested
 For those that had severe symptoms, I either encouraged them to follow
up with their PCP or scheduled a telemedicine consultation with Dr. Boddie
to offer treatment for symptoms
The Healthy Kitchen

 Offered to established patients of all ages whom had chronic conditions such as
hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and/or are overweight.
 Free program once a month (Fridays) to promote wellness
 Included a cooking demonstration and the patients were offered a free meal
 Recipe that was used for the cooking demonstration was given to the patients that came
to the class.
 Followed dietary guidelines using the DASH diet and the glycemic index.
DASH DIET

 DIETARY APPROACH TO STOP HYPERTENSION (DASH)


 EMPHASIZES FOOD THAT IS LOW IN SODIUM AS WELL AS FOODS THAT ARE
RICH IN POTASSIUM, MAGNESIUM, AND CALCIUM-WHICH ARE NUTRIENTS THAT
HAVE BEEN PROVEN TO REDUCE BLOOD PRESSURE
 DIET MAINLY CONSISTS OF BAKED, GRILLED, OR BROILED CHICKEN AND FISH,
FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES.
 STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT THE DASH DIET COULD BE USED TO TREAT THOSE
WHO HAVE DIABETES, HYPERLIPIDEMIA, AND ARE OVERWEIGHT/OBESE.

 Foods that have a high GI includes watermelon,


Fava beans, pretzels, instant rice, rice chex, and cornflakes
 Foods that have a moderate GI includes, macaroni and cheese, peaches, snickers, pinto
beans, and cantaloupe
 Foods that have a low GI includes soy beans, chickpeas, link sausages, butter beans,
skim milk, cherries, and grapefruit
