What is Jump Rope For Heart?
Jump Rope For Heart is a community service learning program of the
American Heart Association. That teaches kids:
the importance of developing heart-healthy habits
that being physically active can be fun
that raising funds to support cardiovascular research and education helps
save lives in their community and across the country.
Millions of students have learned jump rope and basketball skills while
learning how nutrition and physical activity can help them live longer,
healthier lives. Jump Rope For Heart and Hoops For Heart also promote
community service by teaching kids how to help others.

Heart Health Facts:
Sugary drinks often have lots of calories. By
some estimates, to burn off the calories from
one 12-ounce can of soda, a 75-pound child
would need to ride a bicycle at a fast pace for
about 30 minutes. It could take a 150-pound
adult about 25 minutes of walking at a
moderate pace to burn off the same amount of
calories.
The average man’s heart pumps almost 2,000
gallons of blood each day. That is how much
water some fire departments’ tanker trucks can
hold.
Being around cigarette smoke can lead to early
death. In fact, about 41,000 people 35 and
older died from the effects of secondhand
smoke each year from 2005 to 2009.
