CONSTRICTION WITH CONSERVATION !

ABSTRACT:
There has been a paradigm shift in cariology with greater emphasis on promotion of
“Constriction with Conservation” approach than the conventional “Extension for
prevention” techniques. The advances in understanding of dental diseases ,human behaviour,
diagnostics , biomaterials , clinical operative techniques and technologies have all contributed
to our understanding of Minimal Invasive Dentistry as a patient centred , biological , ecological
and a contemporary way to deliver dental care. The aim of this poster is to give a pictorial
view of gradual shift in treatment modalities and strategies from the conventional operative
procedures to the currently used minimal invasive techniques of caries excavation including
chemomechanical caries removal, healozone,lasers and smart burs .
