MPN?
Most Probable Number (MPN)
• A statistical estimate of the number of
coliform-group organisms per unit
volume of sample water. Expressed as a
density or population of organisms per
100 ml of sample water.
• MPN is most commonly applied for
quality testing of water i.e. to ensure
whether the water is safe or not in terms
of micro organisms present in it.

Db(D) db(Z)
• D-weighting db(D), a sound level meter
frequency weighting developed for measuring
aircraft noise especially non-bypass military
engines.

• Z-weighting db(Z), the Z is for 'zero' frequency

weighting, implying no weighting across the
audio spectrum. In reality the range is 10 Hz to
20 kHz ±1.5 dB.
