in the Philippines
Tropical Climate
• This is the kind of climate that the Philippines
have.
• It is because our country is directly hit by the
vertical rays of the sun.
• The country has a warm climate for the whole
year.
Monsoon
• It is the wind that changes direction along
with the changing of weather

– Southeast Monsoon/habagat blowns from


southern part of Asia from May until September. It
brings strong rains in many parts of the country.

– Northeast Monsoon/amihan brings cold weather


to the Philippines November to February.
Four types of climate in the Philippines based
on rain distribution:
1. Dry Season for November to April, rainy season
for the rest of the year.
2. No dry season, experiences heavy rains from
December to January.
3. No period of heavy rains; dry season lasts from
one to three months either December to
February, or from March to May.
4. Experiences almost equal rainfall throughout
the year.

Storms in the Philippines
• Storm is a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with
strong winds and usually rain, thunder, lightning, or snow.
• Low pressure is a condition of the atmosphere in which
the pressure is below average, areas with low pressure
almost always bring rain.
• Low pressure areas are the origin of the storms.
• Typhoon is  an extremely large, powerful, and destructive
storm.
