The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, sometimes
simply titled Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, is a nouvelle written
by Robert Louis Stevenson and first published in English in
1886, dealing with a lawyer, Gabriel John Utterson, who
investigates the strange relationship between his old friend,
Dr. Henry Jekyll, and the misanthrope Edward Hyde.
What happens?
is a narrative about the complexities of science and the
duplicity of human nature. ... Jekyll tries to control his alter
ego, Hyde, and for a time, Jekyll has the power. However,
towards the end of the novel, Hyde takes over and this
results in their deaths.
