Linear Inequalities in
two variables
Prepared by: Ms. CHRISTY JOY “LIGAYA” ABELITO APAITAN
Objectives
At the end of the lesson students will be
able to;
 illustrate inequalities in to variable
using practical situations
Solve problems involving linear
inequalities in two variable
A Linear Inequality in two variables is n
equality that can be written in one of the
forms:
Ax + By < C
Ax + By > C
Ax + By ≤ C
Ax + By ≥ C
Examples:
 4x – y > 1
X + 5y ≤ 9
3x + 7y ≥ 2
6x + 3y ≥ 14
y ≤ 6x + 11
2y > x- 5
Situation: The total amount of 1 peso and 5 peso in
the wallet is more than 150 pesos.

In Linear inequality:

Solution:
X + 5y ≥ 150, where x is the number 1 of
the peso coins and y is the number of a
5 peso coin.
Situation : Emily bought two blouses and a pair of pants. The total
amount she paid for the items 6 not more than 980 pesos.

 In Linear inequality:
Solution

2x + y ≤ 980, where x is the cost

of each blouse and y is the cost
of pair of pants.
TOSS A DIE
1. y = 2x + 1
2. F >m
3. P <d
4. Y= 1 + 2b
5. W =4
6. C ≤ 80
7. 7m = s
8. P = 103 300 000
9. J <g
10. G ≤n
