Basic OB Model
• According to Robbins, OB is a field of study that investigates the impact of
behavior of individual, group or organizational level on effectiveness of
organization.
• The purpose of OB research is to predict the human behavior in certain
circumstances.
• Therefore, Robbins divides this model into
• Dependent Variables
• Independent Variables
The Dependent Variables
• Dependent variable is that variable which is affected by independent
variable .
• There are five categories of these behaviors:
• Productivity
• Absenteeism
• Turn over
• Organizational citizenship
• Job satisfaction
The Dependent Variables
Productivity:
• It is the effectiveness and efficiency with which goals are achieved.
• Effectiveness is the achievement of goals.
• Efficiency is the achievement of goals with less resources
The Dependent Variables
Absenteeism:
• The failure to report to work.

Turn Over:
• The voluntary and involuntary permanent withdrawal from an organization.
The Dependent Variables
Organizational Citizenship Behavior:
• Discretionary behavior that is not part of an employee’s formal job
requirements, but that nevertheless promotes the effective functioning of the
organization.

Job Satisfaction:
When employees are happy from their jobs in the organization.
