Definition.

A colostomy is an opening that is made in the

colon with surgery.

 Ascending colostomy
 Transverse colostomy
 Descending or
sigmoid colostomy

 Equipment

•Harm water
•Catton
•Soft soap (for baby)
•Towels
•Washlap
•Pouch (two piece or one piece)
•Gloves

Procedure

 Explain the action to patient

 Washing hand and use gloves
 Put the Equipment near the patient
 Keep the privation
 open and take the pouch
 Wash the stoma and the skin around the stoma
 Close the stoma
 Dry skin around the stoma for 30 to 60 seconds
 Hold the pouch (1-piece system) or wafer (2-piece
system) with the sticky side toward your body
