Explanation of Front Album Cover
For the front of the album cover I chose a picture of the Misty
Mountains from chapter 3. The Misty mountains serve many purposes
in the Hobbit such as providing Bilbo with a Bonafede adventure as well
as an obstacle that he can overcome to become more than just a
Hobbit. In the film adaptations, a song accompanies the Misty
Mountains which summarize the journey the dwarves must take to
reclaim their mountain. I also chose the color blue as my background to
create a “cooling” sensation of being up in the cold desolate
mountains. At the beginning of chapter 6, Bilbo realizes he’s crossed
the mountains and has completed his first adventure.
Explanation of Back Album Cover
• For the back of the album cover, I chose the inscription of the ring.
The ring serves a great purpose in the Hobbit and is the main catalyst
for the events of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Bilbo discovered the
ring while he was lost in the Misty Mountains. Gollum and Bilbo
engage in a series of riddles as Bilbo is lost in the caves, the
agreement is that if Bilbo gets the riddles wrong he gets eaten by
Gollum and if he passes Gollum shows him the way out of the
mountains. The ring has the power to turn the user invisible, which
actually transforms them to a different plain. I think this picture is
important because it encases the events for the future stories.
