● South Africa is an example of a country
trying to increase their global recognition.
They are using the FWC as a mean to do so
through urban redevelopment (new
infrastructure to host the footballers and
fans). They are essentially ‘staging’ their
country as they are putting their residents
into temporary housing in order to maintain
their ‘clean and modernised image’.
● Local communities were moved into a
temporary housing community called “Tin
Can Town”
