Boundary properties

and Load

PAD: thermal composite

DISC: Steel disc

This model needs tows step for sequentially coupled thermal –stress analysis
Step 1 ( Dynamic Temp-Disp, Explicit: Applying braking mechanical load 100 Mpa on PAD during 0.001 sec
Step 2: Dynamic, Temp-Disp, Expliccit): rotating disc at 157 rad/sec

- In interaction model, we need to set up convection/ Radiation/ Contact between PAD and DISC.

- In order to rotate the disc, rigid constraint needs to be setup between references point and attachment hole of
wheel assembly
- So, create reference point at the center of the disc and put constraint as rigid body type, Pin (nodes)

- Additionally, set up thermal analysis environment( absolute zero temp, Stefan-Boltzman constant) which enable
to calculate radiation.

- - load : this step is for loading conditions and boundary conditions for step 1 and step 2: apply braking load 100
MPa to side of pad and constrain u1 and u2
- BC2 is to fix all DOF at step1 and rotate the disc at 157 rad/sec at step 2.
- BC should be applied to reference point. It will rotate entire disc because rigid constraint was set up.
- Predefined temperature 20 oC should be applied on entire exterior surfaces of the model.
- All parts are meshed using coupled Temp-Displacement element C3D8RT in explicit element family.
