In the United States,
the modern tradition of
Thanksgiving has its
origins in the year 1623
in a celebration in
Plymouth, in the
current state of
Massachusetts.
Since at first the
Plymouth colony did
not have enough
food to feed half of
the 102 settlers, it
was when the natives
of the Wampanoag
tribe.
• Indigenous: White man we
will help

• Pilgrim: as

• Indigenous: We will help by

giving seeds and teaching
them how to fish.
In later years, the tradition
continued with civilian leaders
such as Governor William
Bradford, who planned to
celebrate the day in 1623 as
well.
• Indigenous: Here they have deer meat
for roasting and turkey.

• Pilgrim : We will cook the blueberries

and we will feed our dishes
This holiday would be one of the
few examples of harmony
between European settlers and
Native Americans.

However, it was not until 1863

when the pilgrimage Sarah
Josepha Hale said:

Pilgrim : President
Abraham Lincon, in the
middle of this Civil War
and on behalf of the
people we ask you to
proclaim a day of the
year to thank the Lord
for all the favors
received, for the
harvest, for life and
love.
• President: On behalf of
the United States of
America he proclaimed
Thanksgiving as a
nationwide holiday,
which will be celebrated
today fourth Thursday
in November.
President:
• Let's pray.
• All repeat
• Lord, I thank you
• For everything received
• Love, family, food,
• Health, blessings amen.
Today Thanksgiving is
a national holiday of
the United States,
which is also
celebrated in Canada,
Brazil and some
Caribbean islands.
• How is it celebrated today?
US citizens view this celebration as a ritual
to share a table with the people they love
the most and to thank them for everything
they have in life. Most of them tend to help
the most needy people and invite those
who are far away from their families to
their homes.
The Thursday afternoon of celebration the
streets are empty and on Friday it is
customary to take the day off and
participate in Black Friday, where many
shopping centers make impressive sales to
buy Christmas gifts.
It is also almost mandatory that the
president of the United States appear next
to a turkey on the spot for the celebration
in the White House.
