• Verifying compliance with the provisions of
Chapter XI – 2 and Part A of the ISPS Code
• Issuing the International Ship Security
Certificate (ISSC)

• Ensuring completion and approval of the Port Facility
Security Assessment (PFSA)
• Designating the port facilities which will be required
to appoint a Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) and
prepare a Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP)
• Approving the PFSP and relevant amendments to an
approved plan
• Exercising control measures
• Testing approved plans
CONTRACTING GOVERNMENTS
• Communicating information to the IMO and to
shipping and port Industries.
• Setting Security Level and its notification based on:
a) credibility of information and its corroboration.
b) Is it specific or imminent and the possible
consequences
