Issues in Nepal’s Education System
- 770,000 children are out of school
- Inequity in access to Education:
- Based on Socioeconomic Status
- Of the students in the lowest
socioeconomic range, 12% are on track
in literacy.
- Based on Gender
- 71% of men are literate
- 44% of women are literate

- Student attendance: 51%
- Most schools do not meet child
safety standards
- 11% of schools are earthquake
resistant (see picture on right)
