London is the capital and largest
city of England and the United
Kingdom, London is the most
important human settlement since
it was founded by the Romans
with the name of Londinium
almost two millennia ago.
POPULATION
• Its present population is 55
980 000 hab.. The actual
territory of England has been
inhabited by various cultures
for about 35,000 years, but it
takes its name from the
Angles, one of the Germanic
peoples who settled there
during the 5th and 6th
centuries.
OFFICIAL LANGUAGE
• Their main language is English. It has had a
great cultural and legal impact all over the
world, and has been taken as one of the most
important contributions to the legal system
of many other countries in the world.
HIGHEST
MOUNTAIN
• Although England is a largely
flat nation, it is still home to
a number of majestic
mountains and mountain
plains. Scafell Pike is
England's highest mountain.
• At the foot of the mountain
is the country's deepest
lake, Wastwater, which is
258 feet deep.
THE LARGEST LAKE
• Windermere is the largest
natural lake in England,
measuring approximately 17
km. It has been one of the
most popular places in the
country for vacations and
summer houses since 1847.
