Definition
Eating disorders are psychological illnesses
defined by abnormal eating habits that may involve
either insufficient or excessive food intake to the
detriment of an individual's physical
and mental health.
Overweight
 Overweight is having more body fat than is
optimally healthy. Being overweight is a
common condition, especially where food
supplies are plentiful and lifestyles are
sedentary.
 Excess weight has reached epidemic
proportions globally, with more than 1 billion
adults being either overweight or obese in
2003. In 2013 this increased to more than 2
billion. Increases have been observed across all
age groups.
Anorexia Nervosa

Anorexia Nervosa characterized by lack

of maintenance of a healthy body weight,
an obsessive fear of gaining weight and an
unrealistic perception, or non-
recognition of the seriousness, of current
low body weight.
It greatly stresses the heart, increasing
the risk of heart attacks and related heart
problems. The risk of death is greatly
increased in individuals with this disease.
The most underlining factor researchers
are starting to take notice of is that it may
not just be a social, or media issue, but it
could also be related to biological and or
genetic components.
Bulimia Nervosa
Bulimia Nervosa
characterized by recurrent
binge eating followed by
compensatory behaviors
such as purging (self-
induced vomiting, excessive
use of laxatives(проносний
засіб)/diuretics(сечогінний
засіб), or excessive exercise).
Clinical Depression
Clinical Depression or Recurrent
Depression (in the case of repeated episodes)
is a mental disorder characterized by a
pervasive and persistent low mood that is
accompanied by low self-esteem) and by a loss
of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable
activities.
The term "depression" is used in a number of
different ways. It is often used to mean this
syndrome but may refer to other mood
disorders or simply to a low mood. Major
depressive disorder is a disabling condition
that adversely affects a person's family, work
or school life, sleeping and eating habits, and
general health. In the United States, around
3.4% of people with major depression
commit suicide, and up to 60% of people who
commit suicide had depression or another
mood disorder.

Remember
Your physical well-being
depends on psychological one.
Don’t let depressions cause
eating disorders! Most of then
will bring your death!
Keep fit! And don’t suffer from
harmful diets or pills!
Don’t be a coach potato, have an
active life.
Take care of your friends and
relatives not to let them have
some of the above mentioned
disorders!

It’s Important to Think About
It’s Important to Think About
Do you know people, who are suffering or used to
suffer from eating disorders?
What advice do you remember from the
presentation? And what else can you advise?
What is your attitude to those, who have problems
with such illnesses?
Thanks for your attention and don’t
forget, that…
