Origins of holland

-The first inhabitants of the Dutch territory were settlers who came from the
northern glaciers and were looking for a place to live, a prosperous place to start a
new. The fishermen, hunters, and farmers were the ones who began to form this
town, where small houses began to be created and with this, new towns to live in.
Holland was conquered by the Roman Empire by order of Julius Caesar, as it was located in a
prosperous place for agriculture and fishing and an excellent strategic site for maritime trade.
Towns and roads for trade were created under the orders of the Roman Empire; the Romans
withdrew from the Netherlands when their Empire collapsed.
Spain colonized Holland and until 1581 declared its independence from Spain. In 1588 they
formed the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. However, Holland became a
prosperous trading nation.
