HOW IS CULTURE TRANSMITTED?

1. Enculturation – is the gradual

process by which people learn the
culture of their own group by living
in it, observing it, and being taught
things by members of the group.
- It says that enculturation can also be
conscious or unconscious.
Example:
When we watch over our parents buy
groceries in order to learn how to buy.
HOW IS CULTURE TRANSMITTED?
2. Acculturation – it is
process of learning some new
traits some from another
culture.
Example:
• Japanese people dressing in
Western clothing.
• Ilocano people talking
tagalog.
HOW IS CULTURE TRANSMITTED?
3. Assimilation – it is the process
of which an individual entirely
loses any awareness of his/her
previous group identity and takes
on the culture and attitudes of
another group.
Example:
Migrating.
Changing of dress/clothing and
behaviors an immigrant may go
through when living in a new
country.
