A SIMPLE CIRCUIT
The circuit is no longer complete, therefore current can not flow

The voltage decreases because the current is decreased

Motivation
SERIES
CIRCUIT
CURRENT
Current: the actual
“substance” that is
flowing through the
wires of the circuit
(electrons!)
VOLTAGE
Voltage: a force that pushes
the current through the circuit
(in this picture it would be
equivalent to gravity)
RESISTANCE
Resistance: friction that
impedes flow of current
through the circuit (rocks
in the river)
Series Circuits- only one end of
each component is connected
e.g. Christmas tree lights
Series Circuit
In a series circuit there is only
one path for the electrons to flow
in other words all the
components are in series with
each other.
Things are wired one right after the other
If one thing (bulb) goes out every thing goes out
If the circuit is broken the entire flow of current
stops.
