2. Adjectives consisting of one syllable and ending with a capital letter


can be changed to a comparative by adding -er. If changed to
superlative, just add -est.

 Hard : keras  hardest : paling keras
 High : tinggi  highest : paling tinggi
3. Adjectives ending in a capital letter after a vowel sound can be changed to a
comparative by doubling the consonants & then adding -er. If changed to
superlative, just add -est

Big : besar  bigger : lebih besar
Fat : gemuk  fatter : lebih gemuk
Superlative Examples :
Big : besar  biggest : paling besar
Fat : gemuk  fattest : paling gemuk

4. Adjectives ending in the letter -y after the capital letter can be changed
to comparative by replacing the letter -y with the letter -I then adding
-er. If changed to superlative, just add -est
Comparative Examples :
 Crazy : gila  crazier : lebih gila
 Easy : mudah  easier : lebih mudah
Superlative Examples :
 Crazy : gila  craziest : paling gila
 Easy : mudah  easiest : paling mudah
5. Adjectives ending in the letters -r, -er, -le, -ow can be changed to
comparative by adding -er. If changed to superlative, just add -est
Comparative Examples :
 Clever : pandai  cleverer : lebih pandai
 Shallow : dangkal  shallower : lebih dangkal
Superlative Examples :
 Clever : pandai  cleverest : paling pandai
 Near : dekat  nearest : paling dekat

6. An adjective consisting of three or more syllables can be changed to


a comparative by adding more. If you change it to superlative, you just
need to add MOST
Comparative Examples :
 Beautiful : cantik  more beautiful : lebih cantik
 Delicious : enak  more delicious : lebih enak
Superlative Examples :
Beautiful : cantik  most beautiful : paling cantik
 Delicious : enak  most delicious : paling enak
7. Some adjectives are changed to comparatives with an irregular pattern.
Likewise for superlatives.
Comparative Examples :
 Good : bagus  better : lebih bagus
 Little : sedikit  less : lebih sedikit
 Much : banyak  more : lebih banyak
Superlative Examples :
Good : bagus  best : paling bagus
