Grounding Path

• The path to the ground from


circuits, equipment, and
enclosures must be
permanent and
continuous. Never remove
the grounding prong from an
electrical cord.
Hand-held tools pose a potential danger
because they make continuous good contact
with the hand. Tools must have the following
three protections.

Guarding of Live Parts

Live parts of electrical equipment operating at greater


than 50 volts must be guarded against accidental contact
by:
• Approved cabinets/enclosures
• Location or permanent partitions making them
accessible only to qualified persons
• Elevation of 8 feet or more above the floor or working
surface
• Mark entrances to guarded locations with conspicuous
warning signs
• You must also enclose or guard electric equipment
where it would be exposed to physical damage
