THE CONCEPT
• the process of gathering information
• emphasis on ensuring accurate and honest collection of data
• goal is to capture quality evidence
• starts with determining what kind of data is required followed by selection of
sample and choose instrument to collect data
QUESTIONNAIRES METHOD
• presents respondents with series of questions
• the most common used method
• easy to administer
• can be conducted via phone, mail, live, fax, etc
• straight forward way of providing data
QUESTIONNAIRE ITEM CONSTRUCTION

1. Develop a Chart technique to plan the sequence of questions


2. Take general purpose or a set of specific purposes and draw
them into concrete fields
3. Identify and itemize subsidiary topics related to the central
purpose
4. Formulate information related to the different researched issues

STRUCTURED QUESTIONNAIRE
• Predefined questions
• Planned and created in advance UNSTRUCTURED QUESTIONNAIRE
• Used in large scale programmes
• Formulated around open questions
• Produce qualitativ data
• Questions and sequence are not
determined in advance
SEMI - STRUCTURED QUESTIONNAIRE
• Combination of pre-defined and spontaneous questions
• Used in accommodating large range of different responses from respondents
• Mixture of qualitative and quantitative information
