Chosen in honor of the mighty Amazon River. Jeff Bezos
was then 30 years old.

He left his job at D. E. Shaw and founded Amazon in his

garage on July 5, 1994, after writing its business plan on a
trip from New York to Seattle.

One of the most recent projects is to integrate artificial

intelligence

He was designated the "wealthiest person in modern

history" after his net worth increased to $150 billion in July
2018.
