Book of Matthew

Matthew 28:18-20
Date of Writing:
as an apostle, Matthew wrote the Gospel of
Matthew in the early period of the church,
probably in A.D 55-65. This was a time when
most Christians were Jewish converts, so
Matthew’s focus on Jewish perspective in this
Gospel is understandable.

Purposed of Writing:
Matthew intends to prove to the Jews that Jesus Christ
is the promised Messiah. More than any other Gospel of
Matthew quotes the Old Testament to show Jesus
fulfilled the words of the Jewish prophets. Matthew
describes in detail the lineage of Jesus from David.

What is the primary verb of verses 19 to 20?
What is the main verb?
The Greek grammar is very clear.
That the primary verb is “Make disciples”
What is going or Go?
It is a verbal participle it is supporting the primary verb.
How do you make disciples? As you “go” how do
you make disciple? As you “baptize”
How to make disciple? Teach them.
What is the difference
between “making disciple”
and “a Christian”?
 A “disciple” is a committed follower
of Jesus.
 It is not enough to help people
believe in Jesus. You must help
them committed follower of Jesus.
That is DISCIPLE
Do you consider
yourself a
committed
follower of Jesus?
THE GREAT COMMISSION IS
DESIGN TO HELP PEOPLE
NOT ONLY COME TO KNOW
JESUS BUT TO MAKE THEM
FOLLOW JESUS.
Therefore The Church isn’t a place.
The Church is a group of people who
live on mission to make Jesus known.
