ABOUT TOOTH

teeth is a small, calcified, whitish structure found

in the jaws (or mouths) of many vertebrates.
what the function of teeth ? The human
teeth function to mechanically break down items
of food by cutting and crushing them in preparation for
swallowing and digesting.
Growth of teeth ?

The first set (called the "baby", "milk", "primary", or "deciduous" set)
normally starts to appear at about six months of age, although some
babies are born with one or more visible teeth, known as natal teeth.
Normal tooth eruption at about six months is known as teething and
can be painful
Number of Teeth?

Humans usually have 20 primary (deciduous, "baby" or "milk") teeth and 32

permanent (adult) teeth. Teeth are classified
as incisors, canines, premolars (also called bicuspids), and molars. Incisors
are primarily used for cutting, canines are for tearing, and molars serve for
grinding.
What is Enamel
Enamel is the visible outer layer of the
tooth. This layer contains 5% water and 95%
inorganic hydroxy apalite (calcium phosphate
compounds) and organic substances (proteins
and mucopolysaccharides). Enamel is the
strongest part of the human body.
Benefits of enamel

Enamel protects teeth from decay. When

chewing, your teeth are at risk of damage due to the
activity of chewing food. The nerves in your teeth are
sensitive to temperature, hot or cold foods can cause
toothache. However, the enamel will keep the teeth
from hurting when someone eats or drinks something
hot or cold.
