a/an + singular countable noun


A book, an umbrella, a pen, an elephant
 Some + plural countable noun in the affirmative
 I have some books.
 There are some pens on the table.
 Any + plural countable noun in the negative and
interrogative
 I don’t have any books. – negative sentence
 Do you have any books? – interrogative sentence
