GENERAL PROJECT DETAILS

Name Of the Building : The Centurion Mall

Number Of Stories : 11 with semi basement at bottom and conference hall at
the top
Height of Building : 115’ - 2” (bottom of basement to top of roof)
Location : Biratnagar- 7, Koshi Rajmarga (800m north from Mahendra Chowk)

Plot area : 36632.25 square feet

Total area of building : 128934.80 square feet with basement
General Building Features : Shopping Mall, Hotel, Conference Hall, Lift and
Escalators
Estimated Building Completion Cost : Rs. 1 Billion
Assumed bearing capacity of soil : 120 KN/m2
Objective:

 Facilitate Biratnagar with international level mall

 Target the high-end tourists who enter Nepal via Biratnagar and other
high-profile people who happen to visit the city
Major Project Objectives

To Understand the concept of Project Formation, Teamwork, Decision Making and Accomplishment

To be able to use the Nepal Building Code and IS code in design of commercial buildings

Structural Analysis of Multi-storied Building with application of Structural analysis Software and
compare the results with manual calculations using seismic coefficient method

To make and design buildings that are earthquake resistant, it's important to keep them light and
flexible. This helps them in absorbing and distributing the energy of their movement during an
earthquake.
Statement of Problem

Earthquake Risks increase with height

Unsafe Building Structures due to lack of structural analysis

Uncertainties and Clash Detections increase cost and time

Lack of Proper Communication between client, designer and contractors

Structural Designing Process

Preliminary Design is carried out to find out the size of beam, column, slab etc.

The preliminary size of beam, column and material property like Young’s Modulus of elasticity, grade of concrete and
grade of steel is assigned in structural analysis software and the property and dimension is changed for the unsafe
components as per IS code

Number, size and area of reinforcements is calculated using MS-Excel and manually

Design of Mat or Raft Footing is carried out from structural analysis software data manually using MS-Excel

Two way slab and Staircase are designed manually as per IS-Code 456-2000
SYSTEMS, APPLICATIONS, PRODUCTS IN DATA PROCESSING (SAP)

SAP is the leading technology application that supports highly for the real data management.

It's an integrated business application in that all business transactions from different functional areas are stored and
processed in a single instance (assume a single system, for simplicity,) and interact together..

Some functional areas of SAP which are known as modules are Financial Controlling (FI/CO), Materials Management
(MM), Warehouse Management (WM), Production Planning (PP), Sales and Distribution (SD), Quality Management
(QM).

Scope SAP in the field of Civil Engineering

Validating the design of SAP is a global organization that SAP training course makes the students
model for constructability specializes in enterprise software, more intelligent by helping them
and performance. including enterprise resource planning, understand the practical and applicable
customer relationship management, ways of SAP.
supplier relationship management etc.

Sap certification helps provide easy job

Accurate Estimate Of all
opportunities for the students as sap has multiple Energy efficient orientation of structures
Components in advance
modules and the knowledge of any of the SAP
module is helpful for the candidates.

PROJECT LIMITATIONS

The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) analysis of proposed building will not be included

General Structural Estimates only will be made assuming acceptable rates

The detail dynamic analysis of the structure will not be included in the design.

The design will be fully based on the terms and conditions of NBC and IS codes and other associated codes.
At the project End…

Structurally Analyzed Building and components

Design of major structural components and details

3 Dimension Building Information with respective parts animation

Material Take-off and Estimate of major structural components

Detail report of project with relevant information
