INTRODUCTION
 Human resource planning could be expressed as
a process by which management ensures right
number of people and right kind of people at the
right place at the right time doing the right
things for which they are recruited and placed
for the achievement of goals of the organisation.
 HRP is a continuous process.
 In the words of Colman,”Manpower is the
process of determining manpower requirements
and the means of meeting those requirements in
order to carry out the integrated plan of the
organisation.”
NATURE AND SCOPE OF HRP
 It present an inventory of existing man power of the
organisation.Analysis of this resource helps in
ascertaining the status of the available personnel and
to discover untapped talent presently available with
the organisation.
 Helps in determining the short fall or surplus of the
resource by comparing the total resource needs with
the present supply.It also helps in projecting future HR
needs.
 Concerned with the initiation of various organisation
programmes depending upon the demand and supply of
human resources.
 Designing training programme for different categories
of human resource.

ADVANTAGES OF HRP
 Improvement of labour productivity-
Manpower or human resources as a factor
of production deffers from other factors of
production.As it is a subject to its free will,
the productivity of labour can be improved if
the workers are kept saisfied.
In other words,just as satisfied workers can be
productive,dissatisfied workers can be
destructive.Therefore , through proper human
resource planning we can improve the morale
of the labour and improve labour productivity.
 Recruitment of qualified human resources-
Talented and skilled labour has become a
scare resource in developing
countries.Therefore, for the long run survival
of the firm, it is essential to recruit the best
labnour force through proper manpower
planning.
 Adjusting with the Rapid technological
change
 Reducing labour turnover
 Control over recruitment and training cost

 It can facilitate expansion programmes
