Problem Reported Operator do not use Lock-up in ramp Conditions

Failure Date June, 05th 2013

2
A. BACKGROUND
During Commissioning Operators observed many points of our Truck TH320:

1. Clucth Lock-Up is deactivated when it is climbing a ramp 13° because

engine rpm decrease.
2. Engine Performance Table Comparing To Atlas Copco MT2012
3. Temperature and Pressure Transmission Gauges do not have limits
indicator
4. Problem with fall of load during hauling in ramps.
5. Leakage through Torque Converter

3
1.1 Troubleshooting:
This Chart indicates when truck is climbing a ramp of 13° WITH APPLIED LOCK-UP , so when orange signal
light indicates the lock-up application, it is activated it, so Engine speed decrease until 1400 rpm deactivating
the lock-up. It is not usual for theses operators. They assume that this engine do not have enough power.

Turn On Orange Light to Activate the Lock-UP

2nd Gear

Deactivate the Lock-UP itself

4
1.2. Troubleshooting:
This Chart indicates when truck is climbing a ramp of 13° WITHOUT APPLIED LOCK UP, so when orange signal light indicates
the lock-up application, it is activated it, so Engine speed decrease until 1750 rpm in average maintining applied the lock-up all
the time RPM curve do not decrease too much. The problem is transmission temperature reaches to 118°C

Turn On Orange Light to Activate the Lock-UP

2.2 Troubleshooting:
Customer have 04 MT2010 dumpers . These trucks do not have problem od lock-up deactivating. So they are
claiming why they can not use the lock-up in ramp.

Analyzing both Performance table of both Trucks.

- Our truck TH320 Engine speed decrease too much until 1650 RPM.
- MT2010 just decreases until 1900 RPM

3. Troubleshooting:

Current TH320 S/N T320D400 do

not have any colors indicating the
temperature range. Operators are
claiming this issue

Old gauges have Indicators colors

4. Troubleshooting:
Our TH320 S/N T320D400 has and
Dumper Atlas Copco MT2010 has a
opened shute. So when it moves in
shute completely closed. So during
ramp some load is lost. Aprox. it
hauling in ramp any load is lost. It is
isloaded just with 9 yd3.
loaded with 12 yd3

5. Troubleshooting:
Other observation is:

There is a leakage through torque

converter.

We need to disassembly this componet to

check internally.

10
B. Conclusions:
- We need factory support to evaluate this issues.
