• R. J. Palacio wrote Wonder after an incident where her son
noticed a girl with a severe facial difference and started to
cry. Fearing he would react badly, Palacio attempted to
remove her son from the situation so as not to upset the girl
and her family but ended up worsening the
situation. Natalie Merchant’s song "Wonder" made her
realize that the incident could illustrate a valuable lesson.
Palacio was inspired by Merchant's lyrics and she began
writing. She named the book directly after the song, and
used the song's chorus as the prologue of the first chapter.

• Raquel Jaramillo (born July 13, 1963), better known by
her pen name R.J. Palacio, is
an American author and graphic designer.
• Raquel Jaramillo was born into a family
of immigrans from Colombia. She is the author of
several novels for children, including the best-
selling Wonder, which was adapted into a film.
• Palacio began her career as an art director and graphic
designer, designing book jackets for Paul Auster, Thomas
Pynchon and others.

 My opinion
• Well, In my opinion this book is one of the best I have
read. There is a lot of action going on in it, it shows
that all people must be kind to others, because you
don‘t know what can happen to you in the future. Also
this book showed me that all people are different, and
all of them have their seperate troubles, but friends,
family or other close people can help you to solve that
problems.
