System modeling
• The process of developing abstract models of
a system, with each model presenting a
different view or perspective of that system.
• Represents the system using some kind of
graphical notation like UML
• Models are used during the requirements
engineering process to help derive the
requirements for a system.
System models in RE
• Models can be developed for both existing
and new systems.
• Existing system – helps to understand the
functionality and analyze its strength and
weakness.
• New System - helps to explain the proposed
requirements to all the stakeholders.
Different models are developed to represent the
system from different perspectives.
