EMT Definition
• EMTs are groups of health professionals (doctors,
nurses, paramedics etc.) that treat patients affecte
d by an emergency or disaster. They come from g
overnments, charities (NGOs), militaries and inter
national organizations such as the International R
ed Cross/Red Crescent movement. They work to c
omply with the classification and minimum stand
ards set by WHO and its partners, and come train
ed and self-sufficient so as not to burden the natio
nal system.
