PEEL Paragraph Refresher
◦ Point - Your first sentence must state your point. It introduces the topic you’re about to discuss and tells the reader what the paragraph is going to be

about. Also commonly known as a TOPIC SENTENCE. Make it strong, clear, and concise.

◦ Evidence/Examples - Support your point with evidence and examples. In the next one or two sentences, give evidence to expand upon and support the

point you made. This evidence will come straight from your media profiles! Your media example needs to be clear and strong enough to SUPPORT your

following explanation statement.

◦ Explain - This is where you show your understanding by explaining in more detail how and why your evidence supports your point. Your

explanation should interpret the evidence for the reader. This is were you get to prove to me which type of political influence is the most

effective. There is no right or wrong, you simply must JUSTIFY your answer with your evidence.

◦ Link - The last sentence should REINFORCE your original point. As you are just writing a PEEL structured response use your link to

reinforce your original point, as opposed to linking your writing to the next paragraph or providing a transition to an addition topic/paragraph.
