EXPERIENCE 4
REFLECTING
TOUCHPOINT 4 - 2020
ACT 1: PEDAGOGICAL REASONING

• In groups of four (4) discuss one (1) example of a change you have made to your planned
lesson/s ‘in the moment’
• Identify the ‘data’ you used to inform this change – How did you know the change was
necessary?
• Then, describe the reason/s you made this particular change – What other changes could you
have made? Why did you select to implement the change you did?
TIP

• You must begin Practice 4: Reflecting with a reflection on the ‘scope and
sufficiency’ of your data for informing your planning and teaching. Begin by
discussing your initial data collection (included in Practice 1: Planning), then
discuss your ongoing data collection and how useful it was in informing your
teaching (refer to the data you included in Practice 3: Assessing).
ACT 2: IDENTIFY AND JUSTIFY FUTURE
TEACHING
– Now your unit of work is nearly complete, consider what you would plan to teach
the class next. Consult the curriculum to find other relevant content your students
need to learn.
– Share your ‘next step’ teaching priority with a partner.
– Next, consider the changes you would implement to this unit of work (including
assessment) if you were to teach it again in future.
– Describe one (1) of these changes to your partner.
